After downloading a program called TreeWalk from ntcanuck.com (having DNS
problems with ISP), Zone Alarm caught a program called named.exe trying to
access the net. The IP address was for NASA! Does Win 2000 have an auto
program that adjusts the system clock using named.exe, and ties into the
NASA clock?

Well to determine wheather this 'named.exe' is malicious or not send
it to your antivirus vendor for analysis.

Interestingly rnough you mention that you were having DNS problems
though. Apparently there is a legitimate executable 'named.exe'
"nameserver daemon" is the program that provides the domain name
service. named runs as an NT service.

It is impossible to determine a files nature by filename alone.

Named.exe is the program that provides the domain name service so that
TreeWalk can do it's job. Named runs as a service, at least on my xp, and
named.exe must be allowed to connect.

Windows 2000 does have a time adjusting utility, not sure what the name of
the executable is though.
