Hi Charles,
Not much info to go on. Make sure that someone did not change the workgroup name on the
machine. The workgroup name is case sensative and must match EXACTLY with the others.
You didn't say what else this machine can or cannot do, so I don't know if there are other
signals that may lead to a solution.
When you say "cannot map by name", do you mean it can map by IP address? If it can mpa
by IP address, did somone change the name of the machine or the IP? Are you using hosts or
lmhosts file on the machine and they have been changed or removed? Have they bene
updated with any recent changes?
Has NetBIOS over TCP/IP been disabled on the machine?
Can you ping the name and get back the right IP?
Can you map to other machines?
Can other machine map to the one this one cannot reach?
