Vivian,
For your internal network you can call it anything you
want. Just be aware that if you call it microsoft.com (
for example ) that this is all fine and good until you
want to have connectivity to the outside world. Once
that moment comes and you have microsoft.com you find
yourself in a somewhat unpleasant moment.
My boss uses a domain name that someone else owns for his
internal domain ( but has two domain names that he does
own and uses them for Exchange ) and the guys who worked
there before me tell me that they had a whole lotta fun
getting everything to work. It does work - it is just a
bit peculiar and was rather difficult.
