Name of Address Book

In my system (XP, Outlook 2000), for some unknown reason the address book
is in a folder called "Old Contacts".
In properties the delete and change name options are greyed out and I cannot
figure out how to change the name to something more meaningfull.

Any Ideas?

The address book is just called "Address Book 6.00....Microsoft" and was the
default one when I installed Office 2000 for use in email and dialling etc.
I think the confusion in folder names arose from initially importing an old
address book from a previous installation into an "Old Contacts" folder and
I then managed to delete the original default folder called "Contacts"

That's what I thought. You're talking about Outlook Express 6, then, not
Outlook 2000.
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

Thanks - I think I understand as the address book is the same as that in
Outlook Express. In that case is there a seperate address book for
Office/Outlook2000? If so I never knew that!

Completely separate. The only exception is when you run Outlook 2000 in IMO
mode. In that case you can configure Outlook Express to share Outlook's
address book instead of using the WAB (which it would normally use by
default).
