I asked this in the general forum but realized it probably belongs here.

My msnstockquotes function suddenly stopped working. I run Excel 2007. A
worksheet I had created with numerous quote functions blew up a few days ago.
When I try to put a formula in a new workbook, I get a message that says "The
function that retrieves quotes failed. See MSN Money Stock Quotes for
possible causes."

I did, and it only had advice for Excel 2002. Still, I followed the
suggestions that I saw, even to the extent of uninstalling and reinstalling
the add-in. I notice MS has a "Stock Quotes for Excel 4.0" that they charge
$90 for. Did they disable the old quote feature so they could start charging
for the new one?

Hi,

I don't know if this is the problem, but I have 3 dll's for the stock quotes
attached and I'm not sure which ones are needed. They are:
MSN MoneyCentral Stock Quotes Function Add-In
MSN MoneyCentral Stock Quotes UI Add-In
MSNStockQuote.Functions

With these installed everything works fine. Of course some of this may be
overkill.

Hi Shane, The same thing happened to me, suddendly after several years using
MSN Stock Quote, they stopped working. The Microsoft solution of uninstalling
and re-installing has no effect. Could you send those 3 dll's over. Something
wacky is going on as more and more people seem to be affected.
Thanks for your help!
Pete

Sorry Shane. Just saw this message. Please forgive my ignorance, but where do
I find the dll's you listed and how do I install them?

Have you found a work-around?
Suddenly my quotes stopped working also.
I uninstalled/reinstalled then checked for the .DLL files (they are
installed).
I even tried going to msnstockquote.com with no luck.

No luck so far. I recently noticed a security warning that tells me
automatic update of links has been disabled. I'm not sure, but I don't think
this started at the same time as my troubles with the stock quotes. In any
case, I haven't been able to figure out how to allow automatic update of
links, so I don't know if this will solve the problem or not. Where did you
look for the .dll files?
