Name change in To: box

Before our Exchange server went down you could type in someone's email
addy (one that was new to the server) and then you could click on the
email addy and change it to a name or anything you wanted. Now we
can't do that........we can only do it to addresses in address book or
if we have sent them an email already.

Anyone know why it wouldn't work now?

Thx

Ok. Let's say I was going to send an email to you....I would type in
(e-mail address removed) in the To: box....If I wanted to personalize it to
say Russ Valentine instead of (e-mail address removed) then I used to be able
to click on that persons name and change it. Now I can't do that
unless I have already sent this person an email or have received one
from this person.

No one has any idea about this? Help please.

You are describing the difference between autoresolution and autocompletion.
You were using the former before, now you are using the latter. You can
still use autoresolution if you prefer by clicking Ctrl-K or using the Check
Names option on the Toolbar.

Not true. Add the entry you want to the autcompletion cache. For example,
suppose you wanted to send a message to Joe Blah at the address
(e-mail address removed). Open a compose window and in the To field type

Joe Blah <[email protected]>

Then press CTRL-K to cause Outlook to resolve the entry. That will place it
in the autocompletion cache. You can then start entering "Joe" or "blah" to
bring it up.

Thanks for making it more clear so that you could clear it up for me :)
