Hi Mark,
Assuming you are using the Store Folder pointed out by Steve, the Local Settings
folder has the Hidden attribute so you will need to configure Windows Explorer to
show it before you can find the *.dbx files. To do that use Control Panel | Folder
Options | View [tab]: Click to select: "Show hidden files and folders".
For more information on OLEXP topics such as the Store Folder location and Backup &
Restore see the following Web Site. It is authored by Tom Koch Microsoft MVP for
Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, and was one of PC Magazine's March 2003 top
100 web sites:

Also, if you have any more Outlook Express questions I suggest that you post in the
appropriate group. Your message header seems to indicate that you are posting from
the Microsoft Communities Web Page. I am not certain what version of Outlook Express
you are running, though, so I can't provide a direct link.
Below you will find a link to the main Microsoft Communities Internet
Explorer/Outlook Express Newsgroups Web Page. Start there, then in left-side pane
click on the link for your version of Internet Explorer, then click on the Outlook
Express link.
