hi,

i have some little problems with NAI's total defense.
my company bought the full package. i installed netshield, webshield and
groupshield on the server. no problem until here.
the dat-update work without any problem..... but HOW to upGRADE to a new
scan engine?
what server i must add on the upgrade page?

where i can register at NAI? what do i need for that? where i can get a
GRANT number?
i think the NAI website is so bad... it's hard to find anything.

then i want to access the download page at NAI. clicked there on the
DOWNLOAD --> Enterprise / Small Business Upgrades
this site/link seems to be dead. :-(

can anybody help me? i searched the net for hours without any result.

Try downloading the SuperDAT download to server and double click- this
updates both the disk scanner and email scanner simultaneously. Not sure
about the web scanner...never used it.

To get a grant number you have to send in the application that came with the
original software. If you have not got this call NAI office nearest to you
and they will talk you through it. Without a grant number you cannot
download any of the product updates...though you can still download DATS and
SuperDAT.

Hope this helps.

thank you.

sure, super-dat work without any problems. but my problem is the full
automatic upgrade of the scan engine.

after some problems and dead links i completed the registration and got the
GRANT number i need. now i can download any updates/upgrades and install
manually. but it's still impossible to get a URL from NAI for the full
automatic upGRADE. the upDATE work, because the url is delivered with the
software.
now i found a link on another site, which offer scan engine updates via
FTP/HTML full automaticly - but i am not pleased with that.

Cliff,

I have never got the automatic product upgrade to work. I think its in there
to allow an admin to push product upgrades to a large number of users with
the NAI management products such as Management Console - or its sucessor
(eP0?). I do not think it was intended as a standalone tool for individual
users to upgrade.

Thier products are not updated that often and personally I would not worry
about it....unless you want to roll out the management stuff - that depends
upon how many clients you have.

As for DAT updates I tend to have one server that updates first and then
saves the update to a network share for others to download from. The problem
I have found is that you have to set the "save" path using the full UNC
name - even its its on the same server! - i.e. you cannot use c:\dats you
must use \\server\dats.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Steven
