In my startup configuration (disabled of course) is a row of 8 box characters
followed by( ...) and 9 more box characters, listed as a program that was
running in the background. Just wondering what's with this, as there's no
key for such a character on a keyboard, it must come from some type of
font.

Could be something named with a font not on your system,
not a good sign. What does HJT say about it?

Not exactly. There are actual square
outline boxes separated by dots. I
tried your hyperlink and it went to a
download, so I didn't open it. Thanks,
but better safe than sorry said the 3rd
little pig...

is should go to a download - of Hijack This, a useful programme which
will help you ask the right questions to get some help.

Trust it :-)

Your learning!!!!

However, in this case, the download is for a utility
that is intended to help you figure out what is
installed where, on your computer.

Follow the instructions at http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/
for downloading and using hijackthis.
