I have a regular DVD/CDRom installed, and it shows up in Device Manager
along with another SCSI CDRom that I didn't install. This mystery CDRom is
identified as: PT3173Q NN050B SCSI CDROM DRIVE. I don't have SCSI on my
computer and I'd like to find a way to get rid of it permantly. I've
uninstalled it (in Device Manager) but when I reboot it pops up again.

I'd guess some program is reinstalling it, but I haven't found a way to
identify it's source. It might possibly be from a Nero Burning Rom program
I had installed at one time.

Any suggestions for me in tracking down the origin of this SCSI beast?

In Device Manager, right-click the device for Properties. Carefully examine
all the information for clues.

I've done that 10 times already. No clues, not one. I did look into
Alcohol and unchecked "remount virtual drive after reboot". Then I
uninstalled the SCSI CD-Rom. We'll see what happens after the next reboot.
