Slip Kid

I took a look in Windows/Resources.

This is odd:
I have two verions of XP Pro.
One is fall of '04 OEM, SP1, upgraded w/SP2
The other is newer, this spring, SP2 *in*the install.

In the older one, I have a folder called Windows/Resources/1033 and it
has Plus! themes in the 1033 folder: Plus! Aquarium, Plus! daVinci,
Plus! Nature and Plus! Space.

I didn't even know that?! (Or care, - - I woudln't/didn't put them
there..)

Why were they with the older (by six months) version? The date of the
folder is 1- '05 (as are the Boot, Cursor, Icons folders- the file dates
on the Plus! themes are 2001?) the OS's "born on date" appears to be
9-04...

The Resource folder and subfolders in the newer version are newer! - -
But there is no 1033 file with Plus! themes?

I took a quick peek in Display Properties/Advanced? The Plus! themes
appear the same as Luna (same 3 colors).

I didn't execute them, but it appears *only* the background is
different than Luna? In an earlier thread Sharon wrote " XP shipped with
Classic and XP Theme (and this in 3 colors only)" Well, I have an
"older XP with 4 "bonus themes" - - maybe?

Why are they there? And not in the newer version?

Are they a complete *theme* (is there more variety, different icons - -,
than just the different background?
As they appear to be Luna w/a diffferent background *only* in Display
Properties/Advanced - Do I have to execute them to find out more?

Yes, I could hit *apply* and find out? I'm not confident it will
guarantee a good end given strangeness so far!

Apparently, someone who had access to your computer, installed,
or attempted to install, Plus! for Windows XP.

I am the only person with access to this machine.

What would our second guess be?

Yes, I saw Plus! referred to, checked it out and recall it was $29 - - I
exited the page immediatly without even seeing what was available.

- Jeeze, I thought it was more than these four themes and the price
sounded stiff?!

No, I have no interest in *those* four themes, and would not make an
effort to get them - Even for free (With due respect for people who do
like them)

Is there a way a "sample" got installed, along with something else?

Is that what one gets for 29 bucks, those four themes? (Which are fine,
I'm sure...)

I think Plus! has a "try before you buy" deal. Yes, they do:

Maybe you tried it?

Perhaps - - I don't remember *trying* it...
Also, some OEMs include Plus! on the systems that they sell.

It did execute one theme...I chose "Space".

My cursor was the Shuttle. I think I'd recall *that*?

(I remember a client had daVinci back with W98 - It made my head spin.)

I quickly returned to my home-made theme.

If I didn't own Plus!? - - It doesn't matter now.

It's gone.
