Mysteriously Missing Attachments

Hi, i was hoping someone could assist me. I have recently changed my laptop
and am using vista home premium with office ultimate 2007 and am having some
problems with email (i'm using outlook 2007), but it seems only with certain
people.

Firstly i have a client who cannot open word attachments - they come though
but cannot be opened. this client is using Lotus Notes. this has not been a
problem in the past when i was running office 03 on an XP Pro platform.

I also have another friend who doesn't recieve any attachments at all!! I
believe he's using an older version of outlook.

Short of uninstalling and reinstalling, does anyone have any suggestions.

Thank you in advance and please bear in mind that i am competent, but not a
techie, so replies in idiot mode would be appreciated :)

Could you clarify the issue re. the person who can't open word
attachments. If he saves them and he open them directly from Word, or
is it a file association problem if he tried to double click it?

re. the person who 'doesn't receive' any attachments. Is he using any
3rd party security software that may be causing this. Or some setting
with his ISP to remove attachments? Does the message not show an
attachment indication at all or is it shown but can't be accessed?
