Mysterious Startup items

I'm trying to speed up XP startup and have unchecked
items in the StartUp list that I'm happy to wait to be loaded
when I need them. I've found three that I'd like advice on
identifying:

RTHDCPL.exe with an HKLM reference to \Software\Microsoft
RECGUARD calls Windows\SMINST\RECGUARD.exe
and one with no identification or command, but it refers to
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Current Version\Run

(I'm aware of the fact that slowing down boot-up is being
caused by HP's own Compaq software and Symantec's Protection
Center).
Thanks.................

For what it's worth, I have had many items in startup without an
identification or command. I merely remove it (the x in the box) and have
never had a problem. On the next startup, it is gone. I found that deleting
all items from startup does absolutely no harm or damage and is a fast way
to speed up your computer. Needed items magically get back in there.

Thanks, Harry. That's a useful utility to have around.

Got another one for you, Harry. BTW, I Unchecked Norton's Ghost Tray
and that speeds boot-up considerably. I figure I can load Ghost
when I need it.

One of the last things to load and appear in the tray is the EN
which I click when I want to switch languages. Sometimes it
never comes on at all, even with 2 or 3 restarts. This is a hard
one to diagnose, I imagine. I'm going to try multiple cleanups
and dskchk/r to see if I can force it back. If I can remember
how, I'll uncheck and recheck the languages.
