Mysterious dllhost.exe loading CPU

WinXPH SP1

Dllhost uses 60-905% of my CPU. It keeps automaticlly restarting when I end
process on it in Task Manager. I never noticed it until a few days ago when
it started bogging down the system. This executable just mysteriously
appeared. I haven't installed any new software recently. I think it may have
coincidentally begun to appear at about the time I tinkered with the
standard WinXP utility named Remote Assistance. My laptop doesn't appearto
need it for anything that i'm doing on it. Is it found on all WinXP systems?
How important is it? Any other facts about it? Should I delete it?

Thanks PA Bear. I just downloaded Spybot. Haven't installed it yet.

A Google search of Usenet indicates that dllhost.exe itself is not spyware,
and
that it first appeared in WinNT4 SP2. And it's also in Win2000 and is
utilized there slightly differently than the way it is used in WinNT4.

Could be that spyware is somehow utilizing dllhost.

Its coincidence with the tinkering with XP's Remote Assistance utility still
irks me...
