I just got a refurbished printer on ebay. There is a transparent strip that
I think is to be connected on the right and left, and threaded through the
carriage. It is connected on the right and flopping about loose. HP online
support was useless. I want to connect it myself, but don't know how. It is
connected so it is straight up and down, but the only thing that looks like
a slot on the carriage is sideways. How do I thread this through the
carriage and then connect it to the left side??

Thanks,
Blair

If memory serves me correctly you need to connect to the left side first, then
thread it through the sensor on the carriage board, then connect it to the
right side. The left side has a spring which is why the left side needs to be
connected first. You can see a picture of how this connects in the printer at
the following:

While this is a different printer model this area will look the same.
