I doubt there is a cause-effect here, but this is something new that began
after I installed MyIE2. No matter what I search, this popup from Microsoft
springs up in addition to my regular search. Is there a way to selectively
avoid it without turning off alll popups?

Set the default search to Google (or whatever).

OPTIONS,, QUICKSEARCH,, remove the "*" from in front of the MS search and
add it to Google or whatever.

Remove "kins" from address to reply.

=== click on options, setup center , quick search , make sure the *
is in front of the default search you want to use ........ also when
searching more than one word , put the words in ""

Right click the popup and click "Ad to Ad Hunter". It will place it in
your Popup or Content blacklist (Your choice which one) and you won't
see it anymore. You may need to open your "My IE2 Options>>Ad Hunter"
and check "Add Ad Hunter to Browser right click menu" before you can do
the above. Good luck

Hi Jack,
Did all that except that Ad Hunter still doesn't come up as a right click
menu item even though it is checked to do so. I reinstalled MyIE2 but it
didn't make a difference.

The other day in alt.comp.freeware, Ed Aleks was all like,

Go to the setup center, and choose "Quick Search". Find the search which
shows a "*". Double click and it will become editable. Paste the
following there:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%s

Then, whenever you use the toolbar and hit enter, it should use Google
rather than Steady Search or whatever else was in there.

HTH.

On second thought, Ed, I think I solved my own problem which I mistakenly
thought we shared. Upon rereading, you are having a different issue. I'm
sorry if I got things off track...

Did you close My IE2 and re-open it after you changed the Ad Hunter
setting in "MyIE2>>Options>>MyIE2 Options>>Ad Hunter"? If you did and
you are running Win XP, I can send a .reg file to affect the change or
instructions to add it yourself in Regedit. It should work though if you
restarted My IE2 after the change. You do know that you have to have
your cursor on the URL or graphic, link, etc. while you right-click,
don't you?
