My Windows XP Professional will not install

After I get through the setup and into the file copy
portion of the installation, I get numerous conditions
of "setup can not copy file: c_932-nls, d3dim.dll and so
on. The installation fails. The one thing I noticed was
that I was not directed to the Microsoft Website prior to
installation. It appears that the OS will not load
without first contacting the Microsoft Website. What can
I do to get this OS installed?

It looks like yo have a screwed disk. I've never had to be
directed to the MS site to install, although I HAVE had
installs fail because of damaged media. I had one bootable
CD that was damaged and wouldn't complete the install, and
a good CD that wasn't bootable. I was able to start the
install with the bootable CD, and then replace it with the
oother one when errors came up and successfully complete
the install.

You can try cleaning the disk to make sure that it's not dirty. Also,
if you're doing an upgrade from a previous OS, try copying the i386
directory from your CD to your hard-drive, then run winnt32.exe
from within the i386 directory. Of course, this is an immediate fix
and you should try getting a new copy of your CD from Microsoft.
