My Windows XP looks like Windows 98! Graphics changed on their ow

I left my computer on overnight and now the tool bar and all the buttons and
windows don't look like windows xp but like windows classic. I have already
tried to fix it by restoring the computer but, the only date available to
restore it to is today's date. I have also gone to appearances, expecting to
find that I accidentally set the windows and buttons tab but the only option
is windows classic. Please help!
 
Control Panel > Display > Themes > select the Windows XP theme.

Depending upon your settings in Control Panel > Display > Settings >
Advanced > General you may have to restart the computer before changes
will take effect.
 
Did you disable the Themes service? This (misguided) advice is sometimes
offered as a way to improve a computer's performance. Or have you used a
registry cleaner?

For me, turning off themes wasn't misguided; it ensured that my XP Pro
computer stayed in classic all the time.

As "they" say, different strokes...
 
Themes on, themes off...I can't tell the difference. No improvement in
computer speed that I can measure.
