My Windows XP has become odd after re-installing it

I had a virus, and it annoyed me so much, i re-installed Windows XP. However,
now i have installed it again, it's become ever so weird. It's Xp S2, but it
didn't have the windows built in wireless driver, i had to use an old intel
one to get online, all the sounds are 'beeps' rather than the normal XP ones
i had before. Also, the screen resolution seemed blurier than before, and
slightly bigger, and when i scroll down an internet page quickly, it jolts
slightly before moving down, and it never used to do that before. I've
checked my screen resolution in control panel and i only have the options of
600x800 and the one i'm using now.

Anyone know what's happened? Or is there a Windows XP update, which might
solve these problems?

After reinstalling XP, you need to go to the computer
manufacturer's web site and download the latest drivers for the
system's components.

Go to Control Panel and double click the System icon.
In System Properties, click on the Hardware tab.
Hit the Device Manager button.
You'll need to find the correct drivers for the items with
exclamation points.
From the symptoms you listed, I'd say that your sound card,
network adapter and video adapter need drivers.

Good luck

Ah i see what you mean, yes there are exclamation points for ethernet
controller, Multimedia audio controller, pci modem and video controller. I
have a DELL Inspiron 6000 Windows XP Sp2, where could i find the drivers
which i need?

Thanks a lot, i offer you actual love xxx

First off, your laptop probably shipped with a Dell Resources
CD which contains the original drivers for your system. If you
don't have the CD, or you want the latest drivers, do the
following;

Flip your laptop over and look for a sticker with a bar code
and a seven character code. This is your Service tag. Enter the
information in the box on this web site.

Dell Drivers and Downloads
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

If you're unable to locate the service code, go to this web
site.

http://support.dell.com/support/dow...emID=INS_PNT_6000&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

At a minimum, you'll need to install the following items.

Audio driver
Chipset driver
Communication driver
Network driver (Broadcom 440x...)
Network driver (wireless)
Video adapter (Intel graphics video)

Note:To get the correct wireless network driver, remove the
card and check the model number.

Good luck

Dell.

Enjoy.

I've downloaded all of the 'recommended' and the 'urgent' drivers from the
DELL website you gave me, but i still have no sound. I checked on the device
manager, and it says i am still missing the audio driver and an ethernet
controll driver.

Also, sometimes when i type on my keyboard, it randomly got back like 30
characters so i start typing in a word i've already typed, and it's soooo
annoying.

Thanks for your help so far

Ah thanks a lot for them links, they've fixed my sound and my screen
resolution problem :) Cheers

However, i have one more problem.

When i re-installed Windows XP, it asked me to do stuff with 'partitions'
now i followed what the Microsoft Website told me to do, but somewhere i must
have gone wrong as i have a C drive, E Drive, F Drive and G Drive in the My
Computer section. Whereas before i only had a C drive.

Firstly it says in my C drive, it has space of 71 gb, yet it only had 15gb
free space, and when i look inside it, there's definately not 56gb in
programs or windows or any of the other files.

Secondly, whenever i download anything or install anything (aka the drivers)
they not only go into my C drive, but they also go in my G drive, which only
had 3gb of space, and this also had the same Windows and program files, that
are in the C drive, they're like duplicated? However, i can't move any of
the files or delete them.

I don't know how to get rid of this problem please help one last time?
