My Windows XP CD is scratched :(

hi everyone, i recently went to do a clean install of windows on my computer,... but because of some scratches on my CD the setup program reports some errors about not finding certain files

is it possible to send the cd back to microsoft and get a replacement??? and would their be a cost involved.. i dont' mind maybe 20-30 dollars.. but anything more then that...

I have had similar problems with Windows CDs. 9/10 times after making a
backup copy of that "scratched" CD solved the problem.

Well at least you got a cd with yours, I have a HP and it only allows to reboot or restore back to origanl figure. If I restore to origanl I loose everything I put on the comuter and I reboot and now I can dhut down or restart my computer
