my windows mail wont connect

I had to do a system restore to yesterday due to a virus, now my windows mail
will not connect, it gives a time-out with the network errror message. I have
done all the things in the help menu for windows mail. My system runs on
window vista. Any ideas?

this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity.

Please give us the complete message.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Beside that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail.
