Okay I've had Vista installed now for 2 days since the release. Here are my
issues...are they mine or everyones?

-Nero Burning Rom latest version does not install. It extracts the files and
that's it.

-Microsoft Money 2005 tries to update itself, does the download...then the
program just hangs. When you restart the program it asks to download the
updates again.

-Norton Antivirus 2006 isn't compatible won't install

-Yahoo Widget Engine won't install, does the same thing as Nero then says it
has problems and doesn't finish.

-No driver for Creative Game Port

-Haupphauge WINTV card has drivers from Microsoft, but the latest
application of WinTV 2000 won't run with the drivers. Can't use the card...

THINGS THAT DO GREAT:

Graphically it's awesome...love the fades and transitions.
Both my GeForce 6800LE and my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS work fine with beta
drivers from Nvidia and Creative.

I assume you've taken the time to report all of these to Microsoft?

did you try watching tv in the media center that came with the beta?
start->all programs->media center

Okay I've had Vista installed now for 2 days since the release. Here are my

-Nero Burning Rom latest version does not install. It extracts the files and
that's it.
***NERO 7 has compatibility issues with Vista, try another version (6.6) or
use another burning software. Make sure you also file a report on the issue.

-Microsoft Money 2005 tries to update itself, does the download...then the
program just hangs. When you restart the program it asks to download the
updates again.
***Known issue, you could try disabling UAC and see if it works again.
Start > All Programs > Run > type in MSCONFIG > Tools (tab) > scroll down
select Disable UAC > click Launch, restart your system for the changes to
take effect.

-Norton Antivirus 2006 isn't compatible won't install
Yes, known issue, try a compatible AntiVirus utility:
http://www.my-etrust.com/Microsoft/vista/default.aspx
here are 2 others:
Avast 4.7 32-bit
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

https://www.trendbeta.com/index.php?get=80
run "Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON" from an elevated command prompt
on Vista x64 (Thanks Barb Bowman for the tip)

-Yahoo Widget Engine won't install, does the same thing as Nero then says it
has problems and doesn't finish.
Again, try disabling UAC or contact Yahoo about this since they are the ones
responsible for the software and also file a bug report.

-No driver for Creative Game Port
Yes, known issue, this is Creatives responsibility.

Why on earth would you try to install Yahoo widgets when Vista already has
it's own (better) widgets?

Bobby

Because...their are only like 10 available...and I'm not into stocks or news
readers.

I like the weather update ...calender and clock...I can't get two of the
three.

Yes, I tried this...

It says I don't have a tuner installed, when in actuality I do...the drivers
are there.

Did you run MCE 2005 with that WINTV? I have fooled around with a few of them
and if it is the same version WINTV that I have used before it wont work with
MCE 2005 so I doubt that they will support Vista. It is not a windows issue
but rather a happauge lack to make new drivers when they can just sell a new
TV Tuner. I am using the ATI theater 550 pro. It works wonderfully and
Windows has the drivers built in. Of course there might be greater WINTV
compatibility in the future but I wouldnt hold my breath on that one.

Pardon my ignroance, what is UAC?

Thanks

I cant help , but....
I had the Same experience as you with Norton and Nero. Im thinking its
Possible Nero conflicts with windows media Player 11. My 2 cents worth with
Nero is, The two cant reside togeather in Vista at this time. Im not
surprised at all with Standard and Basic Norton Products not being Compatible
with the Upgrade. They werent with any previous new MS OS's either. Several
times in the Past Ive had to bite the bullit and buy the new Norton
compatible product. Its Probably a different story for corporate versions of
Symantic Products. Norton cant afford to not address their upgrade issues,
Once again, "my 2 cents worth".

So far , all other of my programs , Tools and Utilities are installing well.

ftp://ftp.hauppauge.com/Support/WinTV_PCI/Beta
download 3_45_22285_878whqlwiz.exe
you didn't say which card you had.
But this worked for my Win TV GO +.
I used winrar and extracted it to the dir then using device manager
installed the drivers.
