I have a problem with my USB flash Sony Microvalult 1GB capacity, I copy data
on it successfuly after that I uplug it safely as usual, when I plug it again
into whether the same PC or anonther one I can't copy back my data, the
folders which I copied in the previuos times exist, but when open the folders
I don't find my files I find instead a bunch of folders maybe 17 or 19 and
all folser share the same name "000000000.0000" I have a back up copy for my
data, but the question is "how can I fix this problem and is there any tool
or utiliy to fix it? and how can I avoid this disasterous problem? coz my
flash now is unreliable"
any useful hint will be highly appreciated, thanks a lot.

Are you stopping the USB flash before removal, using the Safely Remove
Hardware Icon in the System Tray?

I suggest copy all your data somewhere on the hard disk and reformat the USB Flash drive to make sure there isn't anything like spyware on it to stop you from copying new data.

Hope this proves useful and let us know if it worked.

Regards,

thank you very much, Ireally appreciate your reply and I did that, (copied
the date, reformat the USB flash, then recopied the files again), but it's
not such a problem, the problem is that the USB keeps on making that mistake
again and again.
the USB now is unreliable.
Is there any way to fix and get it back as a good one??

thanks again

Are your Stopping the USB device before removing it?

If you have delayed writes set to on (the default in Windows), and you
remove a USB device without stopping it, it can cause the *exact* problem
you are having.

You must stop any USB device prior to removal using the Safely Remove
Hardware icon in the system tray.

I am having the same problem. It is very frustrating. A co-worker of mine
suggested the it may have something to do with having deleted files and not
emptied the recycling bin. I have had the problem primarily when going back
an forth between an XP machine and a 2000 machine. I have found that running
a disk check with the automatically fix system errors has helped. It
eliminated the 0000.00 directories, but I did lose whatever data was
originally in the directories that were affected. I did retain other data on
the drive. If you have figured anything out I would love to hear about it.

Hi. I have had the somae problem and believe that I found the solution.
Unfortunately my drive was in fact a counterfeit item. Mine was a SanDisk
and I contacted them for help. They asked me for the serial number and when
I supplied it they confirmed it as counterfeit. I was able to return mine
and I purchased a new one. I hope you can get yours returned and your money
back.
