Hello, I stupidly dropped my USB flash drive, and it's not working
anymore. When I connected it to the USB port, the led light turns on as
usual for a split second, then it fades down to a softer light and the
drive's not detected by WinXP ProSP2. It is only detected after several
times that I unplug and plug it back on. But even though, 1the device
is not recognized and no driver is installed.

I really want to recover the data on it. Is there any way I can do
without sending it to those DATA RECOVERY people that charge $400 to
$1000 for recovering you data???? Or is it lost for ever????
I hope someone has a miraculous solution!!!
thanks

The flash drive consists of some semiconductor memory which
is not sensitive to shock, and some soldered connections and/or
wires which are. If you can take it to pieces then you may be
able to fix it with a soldering iron.

If you need more specific guidance then you should post your
question in a hardware news group. It has obviously nothing to
do with Windows.
