When I hook a USB 2.0 memory stick into a USB 2.0 port, I
get a messages saying that I have a HI-SPEED USB device
hooked into a non-HI-SPEED USB hub. Microsoft knowledge
base article 312270 states that I need to obtain the
latest service pack to fix this problem. I have
downloaded all Windows XP updates and still have the same
problem. What can I do?

Hi, find out what USB2 adaptor you have, this will
normally be the same as the mainboard chipset, eg Via,
intell etc.

The USB1.1 use windows generic drivers. the USB2 hardware
will also use these untill they are upgraded.

Check in your device manager to soo if USB2
hub/port/adapers are listed, if there are then my solution
may not work.

Stuart.

Use device manager to delete ALL your USB ports & hubs.
Reboot and the new drivers should be loaded for USB 2.0.

You should see Enhanced USB listed in device manager if you
have USB 2.0.

Not all motherboards have all the USB ports the same, you
might have 6 ports, only 2 might be USB 2.0.

I recently saw a friend's PC, just built this month, in which the BIOS had
an option to turn USB 2.0 on or off. He had an Intel motherboard, but
perhaps others also have a similar BIOS-level option. It might be worth
checking in your PC.
