Hi Al

Every time I plug my ethernet cable in, my TCP/IP addy resets to 127.0.0.1, and I cannot access my houses LAN
I check the config and it is still 192.168.0.150, but some of the programs I run can tell me my current addy, and they tell me its 127.0.0.

This is wearing thin

The addy is correct when I start up, but as soon as the cable hits the port, it resets. I have checked the cable with both a multimeter, and on a friends pc, both come back as normal. Its a crossover cable to the other pc. No hub. I'm running XP Home, and the other comp has WIN98. I setup the network, using the setup wizard with XP to make a disc for the WIN98 pc. I cannot find any virus/worm/etc on my pc that is causing it

Please Help

Hello

are you running ZoneAlarm as a firewall? it uses the
127.0.0.1 proxy but most of that is automatic, I sometimes
get a funky ip address on my laptop that connects the same
way you are just one cable no hub, sometimes I have to
reboot my main machine (win 2000) the laptop is XP home,
and then all is well, I have set a static ip address on
the main machine and let the DHCP server part set the
client machine ip address. also you may check your
antivirus and that may have something to do with it, but
that 127.0.0.1 is the internal server in XP I believe but
zonealarm also uses that address for stuff,

don't know if that helps but only an idea
