What an utter waste of time - a big fat download and more crap to use up
system resources. The biggest waste of time is the smartshader effects - I
tried the classic effect on DoD and flashing textures and mishandled
lighting was abundant. Besides - who is seriously going to play a complete
game thru in black n white or sepia toned ?
As someone on Rage3d pointed out - game fixes that ppl were crying out for
were left out in favour of built in overclocking for cards that arent in
general use yet !
I suggest ATI round up their driver crew and send em over to Valve - they
can make coffee and sandwiches for Gabe & Co so that a truly worthwhile
piece of software will get out the door quicker. I'll willingly pass on the
next so called driver update if it means I get HL2 before April
and ATI will sell more dx9 cards too !

Can't say as I've seen your issues, on my system, using these latest
drivers. The term 'user interface' comes to mind.

Hi Strontium,

just a quick question. What is your preferred method of installing CAT
drivers? like is it ok just to install the new ones directly over my
existing 3.7's? or is it a case that I need to use the Add/Remove programs
to first uninstall the old ones?

thanks for feedback. . .

Yeah.

It's safest, from my experience.

Extreme case is uninstalling, using drivercleaner/cabcleaner. But, like I
said ....extreme case.

Short of that, fresh install :)

Hi,

ok thanks! will install the new ones over my 3.7's. He-he fresh install,
I'm in no rush to re-format my 240GB disk :P

I got Medal of Honor to run fine with black and white (BTW, what's
difference between stylized black and white and regular?). Now all they
need are a few more shaders, maybe a 8mm noise filter or some stylistic film
filters, and you have "Saving Private Ryan".

Well, the new drivers fixed up the screwed up textures that the 3.7's were
causing in The Matrix game (Radeon 7500) on my computer. That's a big bonus
to me. The Matrix now runs smoother and looks better than it ever has.

bye, Rick

Well I'm not sure how you figure it will take up more resources if you don't
use those new features. Game fixes were in fact included in this release
according to the readme file. I for one am very happy about the game
profiler option so now I can create profiles for different games for FSAA
settings so I don't need to go into the display properties everytime to
change settings for each new game.

I agree but I wish they would have had overclocking available in the
profiles, I clock my np tp pro speeds when gaming and return to stock when
not.

Where is the game profiler - I can't believe I'm being this dense, but have
uninstalled and reinstalled the 3.8s twice (9700pro) and still cannot see
the profiler! (I have a greyed out profile box with an empty drop down list
but thats about it - and I'm pretty sure that was there in the 3.7s?!)

I'm afraid I have the same problem, I just can't seem to find it. Any ideas?

You aren't the only one. The only thing I found is the profiles option
under the 3D tab, but I can't believe they would advertise that as
game profiles, I'm thinking something automatic, or at least easily
switchable from the task bar. Any ideas?

Don't confuse what they mean by this 'feature'. I also assumed they ment we
could set up different AA / ANIO etc.. for 'each' game .exe file. Turns out it's
only a game profile for one system user. Not individual apps. After finding this
out I did a search on google and found "radlinker" which does this and more.
