My system had this problem of hanging frequently. It was
win 98 when this problem started. So i took it to an
engineer who formatted the PC and put back the win 98.
The problem occured again. Then he formatted again and
put win 2000 professional. We tried using the system
with different hardware. He changed the VGA card, the
problem was still there, then he changed CD drive, the
sound card and then the modem, the problem remained.
Actually, it worked fine when he removed the modem and
the sound card. But he said there is not problem with
those. Now I notice that it happens more frequently. It
usually hangs when I scroll. The engineer suggested that
the motherboard should be changed. But I doubt if the
problem is with the motherboard. Any suggestions????
The system is P3 with 128MB RAM. I have not installed
many softwares except MS Office.
