I got onto my computer today and my speakers were not working. It says I have
no mixer device when I try to go to volume control. I have no icon either.
What is wrong with my speakers??

What happens when you download and install the WinXP-specific audio
drivers, as provided by your sound card's manufacturer?

It's either a drivers issue or your sound card just gave up the ghost.

See if you have a sound card listed in the device manager. If you see
yellow exclaimation points or question marks, or red Xes. Than that's
almost certianly a drivers issue. If you see no evidence of a sound
card at all, either your sound card is disabled in the bios (applies
only to integrated sound cards), or it died.
