So, my sound doesn't work. When I turn my computer on it says "medi
test failure". I tried everything that I could think of. When i went t
"control panel" I clicked on sound and audio devices. Then at the top o
that page it said no audio device. So, my question to anyone out ther
that knows what is wrong with my computer... Can you please tell me ho
to get sound back on it?

You probably have to reinstall your Audio Devices and drivers. If your
system came with a software CD the drivers will
be on it. Look for Audio Drivers and a self installing .exe file. such
as Via AC'97 or Realtek. If you have a independent
PCI Sound Card you should have a CD with the drivers on it.

Sorry, in my previous post I failed to include the link for making a good
newsgroup post.

It is;

what soundcard

Sounds simple enough, but it isn't. How on earth would someone who
didn't build their own computer know the answer to that question? I
have sound, therefore I have a sound card... I went to device manager,
but I failed to figure it out. What am I looking for? Sound card
didn't do it.

TIA

Go to the following site and download their free utility;
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Check the "Mulitmedia" section for the manufactuer of your sound card.

Also, have you checked to be sure the power supply is still plugged into the
wall socket outlet, the power switch is turned on, the cables for the
speakers are still plugged into the soundcard, the volume is turned up on
both the speaker control level and the computer?
