I was moving my icons on my quick launch around and
accidentally deleted my Show Desktop icon. How can I
make a shortcut or get it back without using a disk? I
had my computer built and had to pay for my Windows XP
but was not given the disk that comes with it. Please
help!

Hi Amber,

Manual Edit:

Copy and paste the five lines below into Notepad.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Then save it as Show Desktop.scf and drag it to your quick launch bar.

Automated Edit:

Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61)

I see you got an answer to your actual question, I have a additional
comment...
MVPs, correct me if I am wrong, please, but if Amber did not get a CD for
Windows, or some kind of Restore CD, she got screwed, and possibly has a
pirated copy of XP even though she paid for it...

MildBill,

No, OEM's are not required to ship a CD (Recovery or otherwise). But they
are required to provide some means of restoring the computer back to its
"out of the box" condition. Many will use a hidden partition and a custom
"boot disk" to accomplish the same thing.
