my screen is to dark!!

its so dark i cant even make out words even in hight
contrast (im on my other computer right now) i just
upgraded to windows 2000 and unlike windows 98 in
propeties, settings,and advanced it doesnt have a gamma
control where you can make it brighter please someone help
its drivin me up a wall

There should be setting buttons on the monitor itself. Read the manual that
came with the monitor, or experiment with the buttons etc. below the screen.

Generally speaking, these hardware controls should be used before you use
_any_ settings capabilities in the operating system (Windows) or the software
(image processing programs.) The software and OS settings are to compensate
for problems in the image files, _not_ in the monitor hardware. In fact, you
should not use the OS to mess with the monitor - which is why W2K doesn't
have that capability. It's ok to mess around with gamma, etc, withing an
image processor - you're just adjusting file data, not hardware settings.

'course, if you've been using W98's settings tab, you may have messed up your
monitor. Remote possibility, I know, but a real one. :-(

The gamma control will of been a feature of the video card drivers.

You will need to identify what video adapter is fitted and download
the appropriate drivers from the manufacturer.
