within the last 2 days my RD has stopped working I don't
think that the server settings have changed, internet
works fine, any way to reset or reinstall rd tried
download but said it was already on my machine. hp
laptop witn windows xp home. like I said it worked just
fine 2 days ago.

Is the server set to DHCP and behind a nat/router?

Check the private IP address of the server machine, and compare it to the
forwarding instructions in the nat/router.

The private IP can change over time.

What symptoms? Any error message?

I clic on the shortcut and open the right server name
which has not changed since it worked and I get the error
message:
1. Remote connection s are not enabled
2. Maximum number of connections
3. network error occured.

Nothing has changed at the server but I have tried to
reinstall rdc but the wizard says it cannot install as it
is in the operating system I'm sure the problem is on my
home laptop

Other rdc users are working fine on the server

Tell us more about the server.

Maybe the issue is 2.

If this is a Terminal Server in application server mode, what about the
licenses?

The server is using terminal server and does not limit
the connections this has not changed since my rd has
stopped working

Any version of Terminal Services that I am familiar with has a license
limit--this may well be worth checking.

I'll re-read the thread later today to see what else occurs to me, but I'd
check about licensing if at all possible.

Double check the IP address and subnet mask you are getting on your
network connection...
