My Places Bar problems

Hello,
The XP My Places Bar doesn't match what I set it to in Tweak.ui (in both Common Dialogs and Policy Editor User Configuration -- Common Dialogs):

My Computer
D:\
D:\Folder 1
D:\Folder 2

When I invoke Save Files, the My Places icons set looks like:

local disk D:
Folder 1
Folder 2
-----BUT ---- instead of "My Computer" --------
mms (in Firefox)
"email 2009 folder" (in Eudora email)
"Desktop" or "My Documents" (Internet Explorer 8)


The Microsoft Office My Places Bar only lets me move icons up or down. I can't remove or add anything to the default set.

XP Professional with SP3. Norton antivirus and PCTools Spyware Doctor scans both clean. Any ideas why neither My Places Bar is working?

I once had a similar problem. I solved it by using an app that AFAIK is the only one handling XP My Places Bar in non-administrator accounts.

(TweakUI runs only in administrator accounts, perhaps this explains your problem)

I'll give it a try, but what's really odd is that I have the problem while using administrator account.

I wonder if one of the 48+ updates from Micro$oft after the last system recovery broke something. I keep a log of what I change via tweak.ui and other apps, and nothing looked different from the settings used prior to system recovery.

I've never seen My Places Bar change like that before. Or lock me out from the Office My Places bar.

Very strange!
