my screen saver list sometimes includes all of my pictures and sometimes not.
how do I get them on or off the list

Right Click Desktop, Left click Properties, Left Click Screen Saver tab,
select My Pictures Slideshow (if it isnt already selected) the click Settings
button. Theres a box labeled 'Use pictures in this folder' which sets the
directory of where the slideshow looks.

when i click slide show i get this message no pics found in c:\docs and
settings\my name\my pics\display folder

ok i figured it out you were right. now how would move a power point slide
show to the screen saver thanx

This helps if it is in the screen saver, but my pictures are all listed in
the Desktop tab.
How do I get them from being listed for the desktop selections.
It is funny, every picture that is in My Pictures, is listed in the desktop
choices

From MVP Ramesh - Windows XP fetches image files from the following paths:

BMP Files from C:\WINDOWS

BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM files from the following locations:

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\My Documents\My Pictures [& ALL
THE SUB-FOLDERS]
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes [*** & ALL THE SUB-FOLDERS ***]

The short answer is for you to create a folder somewhere in My Documents
- but not in My Pictures - for your personal pictures. Then when you
want one of those pictures to be your Desktop background just browse to
that folder from the Display>Desktop applet.

Well now when I get to use pictures in this folder, can I make it blank and
have the desktop look no where?
I see that it looks to my pictures, but how do I stop it from bringing them
to the desktop selection?

I don't understand your question. I already told you how to stop your
pictures from being displayed in the Desktop Background selection -
don't put your personal pictures in the My Pictures folder.

Certainly you can set your Desktop background to be a solid color. The
Desktop Background applet has that option. Set to "None" and choose your
preferred background color.

Well that didn't work. It is not a slideshow on the desktop, it is a
permanent list of all the pictures still in my pictures folder, they are also
listed thereNOT in screen saver.
I had to delete alll pictures out of the My picture folder on to CD then
they were not listed individually in the list for desktop.

AHHHHH as lucy would say. I am afraid to put pictures back in.
Would the Adobe elements program being doing this?

No. Go to My Documents. Create a new folder. Call it "Pictures" or the
like. Copy your pictures to that new folder. Those pictures will no
longer appear in the Desktop Background list. If you can't figure this
out, then have a knowledgeable friend come over and do it for you. I
really don't know what else anyone not sitting at the computer can do
for you.

Thanks fido. You don't have to be insulting, I like your idea , but that
doesn't say why this is happening, and why I can't use the My Pictures folder
which has a lot of features for sending my pictures through e-mail etc.

Since I did take out the Adobe elements program *I deleted all of it) I put
a picture in my pictures and it didn't show up on the listings in desktop. So
Adobe is doing it, I just don't know how to keep their program out the
microsoft program.

Hi! My problem with the desktop pics is I want one picture as wallpaper, but

If you mean you get four copies of the same picture, tiled as the
background, right-click the Desktop, click Properties, click Desktop
tab, click the "Position" entry and change from "Tiled" to another
selection, such as "Stretched".

If you mean you get four different pictures as the background, you need
to edit the "collage", crop the picture you want, and save it as an
individual picture. Then select it as the background image.
