I'm having problems viewing my photos and get an error message that reads:
"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please tell Microsoft about this problem" which I have done each and every single time I'm booted out ! Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem? Thanks.

Usually due to the software for your graphic (video display) card. Go to the
Internet site of the card manufacturer and download and install the latest
driver (also called firmware) for the card.
You may also get an update for it if you click Start, Help and Support and
Update. Microsoft will scan your computer and it "may" have the driver
update. If not, proceed has above after you have taken all other updates
available and see if these updates may have solved the problem.
A second possibility is not enough RAM memory. You should have at least 256
MB of RAM memory to display large photo files on XP.

Thanks for your help Yves. It's much appreciated :)

I think the problem more than likely relates to the fact that my computer doesn't have enough memory.

Do you happen to have Adobe PhotoShop or
Elements installed?

If you do...right click on a .jpg file and choose
Properties. Click the Photoshop Image tab
and uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button,
then click OK.
