My Picture takes ages to load

When navigating around my pictures, each directory takes
ages to appear completely, and even then I have to do a
couple of refreshes to get all the pictures up correctly.

I have an Athlon XP2100 desktop with 512Mb of DDR & 120Gb
worth of hard disc.

Any ideas, it's driving me nuts.
 
What are you using to display the thumbnails? Photoshop? If so, change it to
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
