My PC runs like a dream until I use Messenger Live. I can talk to contacts

Normally on restart I get a message up saying my system has recovered from a
serious problem and it mentions my alcatel speedtouch connection. Like I
said, its only when I use webcam and some games other than this my PC is
working great!
Hope I have given you enough info to try and help me.

My reaction is that some hardware details are needed as incorrect
drivers could be the problem. Two items seem to come into . The make and
model of your webcam and the Alcatel Speed touch modem. Are you located
in the UK and is BT your ISP?

Event ID: 1003 is the Report covering the Blue Screen of Death crash.
Keep your eye open for a mention of a driver file ????.dll or ???.sys.
Watch for it in a of Stop code as and when you get another crash.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure even after you have
solved the problem as it's better disabled. Check for variants of the
Stop Error message.

Please can we see a summary of your system components.

This freeware programme is excellent for getting information about
your computer:
Everest Home Edition (freeware)

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight
required text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this is
fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup messages
longer reports will irritate other newsgroup subscribers.

I'm 100% positive that the problem you're experiencing is as follows.

USB Host Controller on your system is the SiS 7001. This controller is not
compatible with XP SP2. There is no support info from Microsoft or SiS on
this issue at all.

The solution: If you updated from SP1 of XP, do a System Restore back to
before that. That could cause some issues though depending on how long it's
been since the update was done.
or
Purchase and install a new USB host controller.

Other than that I haven't been able to find any other solution to the
SP2-7001 problems anywhere on the internet. In fact the SiS website has no
information on the 7001 controller at all.
