Well, I've been using my PC-DL Deluxe system with Dual Xeon 2.4G/533
CPU's and 2GB of ram with Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition and find that
the machine is very powerful.

As a test I have 8 IIS / .Net web sites exposed to the public, two open
game servers (16 players, Counter-Strike), and 30 FTP servers running on
it.

In any 24 hour period I get about 1000 visitors to the webs, about 100
connects to the game servers each, and have two teams of developers
working on the FTP sites.

I've not seen the CPU's hit more than 5% load yet (except when I logon
or open a window, which is normal).

The SATA Promise RAID 1, with dual 250GB drives, is performing
perfectly.

At under $2000 each, this box is going to be my standard system for
small shops.

hoping someone would post about this one

I got mine from newegg.com. Unfortunately, they seem to have monkeys
filling the orders because they sent me one stepping 5 and one
stepping 7 processor. I had work to do so I put both in (I could have
RMA'ed them but obviously no one there understands the concept of
matched processors and I probably would have gotten a stepping 6
back...never again will I buy from newegg!). I get a message saying
the processors are not matched so it's booting in uni-processor mode.
XP pro sp1 seems to recognize both (all 4) processors, though. I have
two Hitachi Deskstars in RAID 0 on the Promise controller. I tried
using the Intel controller but I kept getting disk read errors after
the initial file copy from the XP install disk and reboot. I had
already created partitions and copied data from my old drives to the
new array so the Intel controller was working - I just couldn't boot
from it. I switched to the Promise controller and it's working great.

I use it for a VB/SQL Server development machine while running
SETI@Home. SETI uses most of one processor (4 hours, 5 minutes per
dataset) and the total processor load never goes over 50% when doing
complex database queries (SQL Server set to use all 4 processors).

It wasn't cheap, but it runs rings around my old dual IWill PIII 933
system.
