My open windows change position after playing a game in fullscreen

This may be silly but it's a little annoying:
I've been playing Varmintz Deluxe, (no teasing) and it changes the
resolution of my screen when I play it in fullscreen mode. After I'm done
playing and the resolution goes back to normal, my open windows have moved to
the lower right hand corner of the screen. Does anyone know if I can prevent
this from happening.
I'm running XP Home SP2 updated.
Thanks for reading this, any help will be appreciated.

Hi Ben Jr,

That is normal behaviour after screen resolution has been
changed, and you can right-click the taskbar to select
"Cascade Windows" in order to neatly rearrange them.

Thanks Jimmy S.,
I value your comments and thanks for taking the time to respond to my post
but is that it? Nothing else I can do?
Using the cascading feature doesn't work for me because it resizes the
windows and I would prefer to have them centered.
I'm sure I can live with just moving them back after playing. But if there
is any way I can prevent them from moving...

Ben Jr

Hi Ben Jr,

Before launching the game, try minimizing those windows.
Once the game is over, they should be easy to restore.

Thanks again Jimmy S.,
Your input has been great.
My real issue is that the programs that have been minimized to the taskbar
or the tray, come back up moved. It's driving me a little nuts. They're not
even on the screen when this is happening.
There has to be a solution out there.

Ben

Hi Ben Jr,

Lets keep looking around for the solution, then
and hopefully someone may chime in as well. :-)

Isn't there somewhere a setting where the position of the window gets
'remembered'? Registry maybe or Group Policy (too scared myself to
fiddle with that).

Hi Thomas Kuck,

That's food for thought, and the window size and
positions are kept in the registry by many applications,
however when the resolution changes, it skews those
settings and ends up causing this type of situation.

Hey Guys,
I was thinking that maybe there was a setting that is moving the windows
when the resolution changes, to compensate for the change in the display. Or
is this just wishful thinking. It's not like they come back in random places,
they're all in the lower right corner like they were moved or pushed down
there.
I have no problems messing with the registry. I would just back it up first,
so if any one has any idea...

Hey Guys,
I found the answer!!!
It's called Actual Window Guard. It's a program that allows you to set
various properties to any window including alignment. Unfortunately it's not
free-$19.95. The trial is for 60 days so I can keep playing with it so see if
I should keep it.
BTW-I was having the same problem with my desktop icons but a program by the
name of Iconoid was taking care of that. It's free. Between both programs I
can play resolution changing games and still maintain the look of my desktop.
Thanks for taking the time out to try and help me.

Ben

Hi Ben Jr,

That's great news, and I hope that program turns
out to be the ultimate cure for that pesky problem.
