I am new at this game... my short cuts were taken with the whole computer how
do I get into it

Do you know the URL of your web site? If so, open your web site in
FrontPage.

What exactly is wrong with the machine? Can you nor repair install the
OS to get the files? Have you got any backups or do you know the
benefits of backups? What do you use your CDRW-drive for?

Tell us something about your system to get you back on track.

No I don't is there a way to find out... I am replacing another employee and
I am trying to figure this out

You should know the web site's address surely?

Is this your work computer that crashed? Surely that is your employer's
responsibility to have replaced/repaired/fixed?

On your new computer, start frontpage, open the site "live" (file, open web
etc) then put the full http URL (the web address you'd put into your browser
to view the site) to your site in the box, click OK, it will prompt for
username/password etc.

Then it will connect and you will see your files listed. Publish down to
your computer, by selecting local to remote (since your "live" site in this
instance as far as FP is concerned is your local and your computer is the
remote.).

Read up on the help files.

I don't understand, first of all, why he doesn't know the URL to the
website.
I don't understand, second of all, why nobody else in the company apparently
doesn't know the URL. And, if they do, I don't understand why he hasn't
asked somebody?

If I forgot the URL of our website, I guess somebody in the company could
tell me. Or, I could Google for it.

But, perhaps he simply didn't understand what was meant by URL?

Tom

Welp...I'm sure there will be a ton of questions once he/she does find the
URL and how to "update" the site.

I do sympathize with anyone who gets a web dumped on them though...It's
happened to me more than once and I usually end up re-doing it from scratch.
