I had 3 computers. 2 laptops (win 98,win 2000) and 1
desktop (win 98) all connected wireless to a residential
gateway which is hard wired to my cable modem. Those 3
work great I can access files and print from any computer
to any computer. I recently added another desktop
(wirless win xp home) to my network and i can see it from
all computers but i cannot access it or print to the
printer connected to it. If i try to access it i get the
message "\\dell is not accessible. The network path
cannot be found. Dell is the default name for the new
desktop. If i try to acces the workgroup established by
the RG i get "XXXX is not accessible you might not have
permission to use this network resource." I have
installed netbeui, enabled netbios and opened up the
firewall on xp and nothing works. I can access the
internet through the RG but that is it. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Phil

I had the same problem on my network. You must create
users on WInXP for the other computers to login to the XP
machine. the users should have the 'name' from the
computer logging in.

XP is pretty rigid with home networking setup. You must rely on the Network
Setup Wizard as your primary avenue of setup unless you are savy with home
workgroups and network setttings.
