Where do I find the policy(s) that prevent students from viewing and
searching "My Network Places" in Explorer and in Microsoft Word?

User Configuration--Administrative Templates--Windows Explorer
There are several selections in here
1) No computers Near Me ...
2) No Entire Network in....

enable both of these
