My Network Places missing a pane

From the start button/menu I select "My Network Places". When the "My
Network Places" window opens it is missing the left pane that should have a
blue backgound and the "Network Tasks", "Other Places" and "Details" menus.
Any idea how to get it back? This is on my Dell laptop. My regular desktop
computer is OK and shows these menus.

Thanks for any help. I'm sure is something simple and I'll kick myself for
having to ask.

Do you see a list of folders instead? If so, click the "Folders" button
in the main toolbar.

Yes I do see a list of folders. I clicked on the "Folder" button on the
main toolbar and it opened up a folder view pain down the left side not the
"Network Tasks" menu in the pane with the blue background that I see on my
other computer.

1. Tools > Folder options > General tab > make sure "Show common tasks
in folders" is selected. OK your way out.

OR

2. Right click My Computer, select Properties and click the Advanced
tab. In the "Performance" section, click the Settings button. Scroll
down the list and make sure that "Use common tasks in folders" is
selected. OK your way out.

OR

3. Try Line 78, left side at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
