My network icon in the tool bar is missing.
I check marked both the LAN and DSL property
[x] show icon in notification area when connected.

I am using Win XP Pro. I have Dell Pentium 3 with LAN card and DSL modem.

How can I get this network icon back? Thank you.

I tried to check mark, reboot, uncheck mark, reboot, check mark, the network
property. No icon.

Well, lo and behold, I got this working some other way.

I went to control panel, sound control, click on the speaker icon.
Out pop both the speaker and network icons.

There must be some kind of program bug for this.

How interesting! If they disappear again, set them back and then run this
edit:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Well, next day, after boot, this network icon disappeared again.
If I enable to speaker icon, the network icon re-appear again.
How annoying!

Tired it. Doesn't work. The network icon does not reappear.
If I tried to enable the speaker icon, both the speaker & network icon will
appear.

But, after the next boot, BOTH the speaker icon & network icon will
disappear again.
The network connection / property / icon [x] is marked.
The speaker check mark in the Sound Control / Control panel icon [ ] is
empty.

Something is wrong with this.

Thanks for the feedback, is getting even better. :o)

Run the edit on line 316 (right hand side)

If this was an upgrade:

Start/Run/CMD. In the command prompt window type:

X: (where X is your CD Drive letter)
CD \I386

Then use the expand command:
expand -r systra_.exe c:\windows\system32

Note: Modify if need be to: WINNT\System32

If the above doesn't help.....

Questions:

1. Make of your sound card
2. Is it set as default
3. In the Device Manager, does it read - Working Properly

Suggestion: For testing....

Extract a new copy of Sndvol32.exe from the Windows XP CD to the system_root
\System32 folder on your computer's hard disk. To do this, follow these
steps:

Start/Run/CMD. In the command prompt window type:

X: (where X is your CD Drive letter)
CD \I386

Then use the expand command:
expand -r sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32

Note: This assumes XP is installed on C: and that its installed in the
Windows folder. If not, you'll need to adjust the command accordingly.
Additionally, this must be an installable version of XP, not a "recovery
CD".
