My Network Connection suddenly stopped working

Friday, I come home from school. I go to go on the
internet, and nothing works. I look at my router, all the
lights for the LAN connections are off. Usually Ports 1
and 2 are used. The other lights(Power, WAN, WLAN) are all
on. Mind you I did nothing between Thursday night, when
the connection was working, and Friday after school. So I
call D-link and they help me out. They have me reset the
router back to factory defaults. Well, after I
do this, Port 2's light comes back on, but not Port 1(My
computer) I should also mention XP has the pop-up
saying "A Network Cable is Unplugged"

Well the computer connected to Port 2 does have Internet.
My Wireless connections have internet. Port 1 DOES NOT
have internet. Port 1 DOES work though, becuase I moved
the cable in 2 over to 1 and it still worked.

I have tried changing out the cable, using different
ports, resetting the router. Still no connection from my
computer to the router. I ran a virus scan, came up empty.
I believe its a XP/netowrk card problem, although im not
sure. The network card is enabled and working fine
accroding to device manager. I'm about to rip my hair out.
D-Link doesn't know what it is. Can any of you shed some
light on this? All I've done this whole weekend is work
and try to fix this. Any help would be appreciated. Its
just strange that it stopped working.

Some general info:
Router: D-Link 614+ REV. B

My Computer:
Win XP
Realtek RTL8139 Network Card

If you are positive you have good cables the only other
possibility is the NIC in your computer or your router has
fried. When you plug in your network cable from your
computer to the router both lights should immediately
illuminate indicating you have a good link. If not you
either have a bad cable, a crossover cable, or one of the
two interfaces are bad. You can test you cables with a
cheap network cable tester or by trying them on a known
good connection.

I'd be interested to know if your router has fried. What
type of environment is your computer located?

Its defenitly not the router because the router works with
the computer I'm on now (a wireless connection) and my
Dad's as well (hard wire) I mean its been working for 6
months and now this just happens. When i connect the
wires, neither the NIC or router illuminate.

This basically means i have a problem with my NIC or WIN
XP. The NIC shows it is working properly in the device
manger.
Also, my NICand router take either corssover or regular
LAN cable. And I've been using the cable I have conencted
to the computer now for the 6 months it was working.

SO frickin weird!
