How can i display the my music icon on the desktop without it being a darn
"shortcut"... It doesn't show up to be checked in the desktop customize
area... I thought there was a place you could go where you could tell xp
what you wanted displayed by checking / not checking it... and it included
more than just the few that the right click properties - desktop tab does

I think you might be thinking of the options available under Start Menu Properties.

If you're saying that you want the My Music icon to behave more like a "real folder", i.e. appear in
the left-hand pane in an explorer window, then the following procedure will do the trick. If not,
please be more specific.

To create a shortcut to My Music which acts like a real folder, do the following:

Open an explorer window to your start menu (right-click the Start button & select 'Open').

Open a second window to the parent folder of My Music (usually My Documents).

Right-click the My Music folder & drag it to you Start Menu folder -- release the button & select
"Create Shortcut".

Move the new shortcut to your Desktop.
