Hello, I'm using winxp home ed. Recently, I noticed that
the "my music" folder icon turned into a generic file
folder icon. I miss the icon of a folder with a music
note on it. Because that folder is a system created
folder, you can't customize the icon like you can in your
personal folders. I tried creating a new folder and left
it named "new folder" and proceeded to give it the "my
music" icon. I transferred all my music into this new
folder, then deleted the "my music" folder, then I
renamed the new folder as "my music". Woohoo, I thought
this worked but then I restarted explorer. "My music" no
longer has the music folder icon!!! Why is it reverting
to a generic folder icon? What's up with that?

I appreciate any of your incites!
Rob

Maybe I had a bad copy, or something, but I am not at all sure I would do
this... I ran the TweakUI Repair Icons, and my desktop icons all reverted to
flat (Pre WindowsXP, I don't know how better to describe it) state, as did
any icons in Explorer for new files, etc.
Asuming this is NOT the intended outcome for TwaekUI, is there a fix other
than to reload Windows??

When using tweakui to remove the shortcut arrow, (this can be reproduced), if
you click none, it uses the tweakui.exe file which uses 8 bit color icons
instead of the shell32.dll file which uses the 16 bit color icons. To prevent
the garish display of the 8 bit color icons, use the custom setting and point to
the shell32.dll file and use icon #28 or 29 (there are 2 blank icons) then
apply.
