Do you mean that the letters are still right-side-up but one under
another like
t
h
i
s
?

Look at the margins (in File > Page Setup) and the paragraph indents
(on the ruler or in Format > Paragraph). In one place or the other,
the Right measurement is probably set so that the text column is only
one character wide. If that's the case, change it back to its normal
setting and click the Default button.

If it happens for all new documents, it may be a case of the sort of
thing described at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm. That
article also describes how to fix it.

No it is typing from bottom of the page to the top. As if I fliped the page,
my cusor lays sideways on the page.

If you're in a text box, frame, or table, check Format | Text Direction.
Otherwise, I would have to think you might have enabled some bizarre Asian
IME (I don't know of any that write from the bottom, though).

That's what I was thinking to, but can't seem to figure out how to change it.
I wonder if it's some weird virus

Is it just the typing area that is rotated or the whole screen? If the
latter, note that some screen drivers can rotate the screen display? If not
then there is definitely something amiss. I would suggest renaming
normal.dot and deleting the Word data key in the registry, and removing (at
least temporarily) any add-ins as suggested at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

Did you check your margins in Page Setup with a new document? It's a remote
possibility, but could you have done something with Normal that would have
changed them? Like maybe set margins with a macro or such and slipped on a
decimal point? Or maybe check your style settings? Could you have picked
up a weird style from another doc and got it as the default?
