Jeff

I have been trying desperatly to get my movie files to
play in powerpoint 2002. This is a brand new computer
with office xp installed from the factory. I made my
powerpoint show on another computer and it worked fine,
then I tried to transfer all my movie files and the show
itself and nothing happens when the slide where the movie
is linked appears. I cant find a solution anywhere.
Thanks

I'm having exactly the same problem under the same
circumstances. The only way I can get the movie to be
played is to copy the movie file to a CD and then import
this file into the PPT presentation as a file from the
clip organiser.

Movies are tricky, as they are not embedded into the show, but rather
linked. So the first thing to verify is that the movie has been sent along
with the PowerPoint file. Assuming that is has, do this as test: on the
machine you created the presentation, right click on the movie and select
properties. It will most likely show the movie is located at "c:/my
documents/etc." When you play the presentation on another computer it is
going to look for the movie at that exact location (which does not exist on
that computer).

The solution is to make the links relative, so PowerPoint is not looking for
an exact location, but rather the movie name. The best solution is to use
RNR's Fix Links Pro add-in (http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/FAQ00035.htm).
You can also get more details on hard vs. relative links at
